What makes coffee for a fatty liver

Anyone suffering from fatty liver should follow a healthy diet. Coffee can also stand on it. This is even recommended.

The most effective ways to reduce liver fat are exercise, alcohol avoidance, and a balanced diet. However, many sufferers wonder what else they can do for their livers – also because of fears of possible consequences: excess fat can burn the liver and cause permanent damage. Then there is the risk of cirrhosis and, in the worst case, liver cancer.

Coffee can help prevent this. Therefore, it is definitely recommended for the affected to drink at least one cup a day – of course not instead of the mentioned measures, but in addition.

According to several scientific studies, those who drink coffee daily may have a lower risk of developing chronic liver disease. In the case of existing non-alcoholic fatty liver, coffee could favorably affect the course of the disease and reduce the risk of devastating consequences such as liver cancer.

What studies show

The survey was primarily an observational study. In it, researchers documented coffee consumption and participants’ health over the years. Chronic liver disease, such as fatty liver, fatty hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer, has been shown to occur significantly less frequently in those who drink coffee daily than in others.

Coffee drinkers who had already developed (non-alcoholic) fatty liver or hepatitis caused by it were often less severe than those who had rarely or never drank coffee. Diseases in coffee drinkers also less often led to permanent liver damage. So their risk of cirrhosis was clearly lower.
