Make your own muesli bars: A healthy snack in between

If we get a little hungry in the meantime, we will be happy to have snacks that are ready and do not have to be prepared separately. A granola bar is often the first choice, especially since many people assume that a granola bar is a healthy snack. However, if you look at the list of ingredients at the granola bar in the supermarket, you will find that it is not as healthy as you might have thought.

In particular, sugar in the form of various names such as sucrose, glucose or fructose syrup is hidden in many muesli and fitness bars, sometimes with an alarmingly high proportion of up to 50 percent. Sweeteners are often included, but really healthy ingredients such as cereals or nuts are present in smaller proportions.

So if you want to eat really healthy, you should pay close attention to the list of ingredients when buying, or better yet: you will create a healthy muesli bar yourself. This way you can be sure that healthy ingredients are included. You can also design the bars according to your own taste.

Homemade granola sticks: you need it all

Making your own granola bars is not as complicated as you might think. In addition to the ingredients, you only need an oven, a refrigerator, bowls and dishes, a baking tray, or a blender and molds for muesli bars.

You can easily make the bars in advance and possibly even freeze them, so you will always have a healthy snack at home.

By the way, the preparation of the bars is very fast. With a few ingredients, you can conjure up a delicious snack in 15-20 minutes. Below we show you four very simple recipes that you can try.

1. Protein Bar: Strength for your muscles

Hazelnuts are not only tasty but also provide valuable, healthy fatty acids. Also, thanks to them, your protein bars will be super crispy. If you prefer fruit or want to eat less fat, you can replace nuts with dried cranberries. If the sticks are not enough for you, refine them with a little honey or agave syrup.

Ingredients:

3 eggs, 100 g oatmeal, 350 g low-fat cottage cheese, 30 g chopped hazelnuts or 30 g dried cranberries, or 1-2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup

Preparation:

  1. Mix all the ingredients and place on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake the sticks in a preheated oven (170 ° C) for about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Then cut them into even rectangles with a knife and let the sticks cool. And your high-protein snack is ready. Alternatively, you can use a granola stick mold.

2. Healthy snack without sacrifice: chocolate bars

Chocolate taste and healthy at the same time? If you’re wondering how to do it, stay tuned. Here we have a table for real chocolate fans.

Ingredients:

120 g oatmeal, 30 g acai cocoa mixture (health food store), 50 g margarine, 30 g brown cane sugar, 50 g dark chocolate

Preparation:

  1. Mix oatmeal and acai cocoa mixture. The margarine then dissolves in the pan. If this is liquid, add it to the oatmeal-cocoa mixture and add brown cane sugar.
  2. Then pour the finished mixture into a cleared baking dish and flatten it with a spoon or spatula. The sticks are then baked in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 180 degrees.
  3. After baking, let the sticks cool down. Meanwhile, melt the dark chocolate in a water bath. Then spread it on the cooled dough. In order for the chocolate to cool down, it is best to put the whole in the fridge for about an hour. Then all you have to do is cut the rectangular bars and your chocolate snack is ready.
