The longest oil pipeline in the world is to be built between Tanzania and Uganda, and climate activists want to prevent it. Luisa Neubauer is upset by her statement that she wants to blow up the pipes. Another radical climate thinker was probably the model.
IClimate activist Luisa Neubauer caused a stir in the video with a joke. “We plan to blow up the pipes,” Neubauer said in English, laughing. The Instagram video was shot in Denmark, where the “Copenhagen Summit of Democracy” is underway. The “image” was the first to report.
In the video, Neubauer spoke out against the East African oil pipeline (EACOP), which will run between Uganda and Tanzania from 2025. Politicians say it could reduce poverty in both countries and cost ten billion dollars. At 1,400 kilometers, it would be the longest oil in the world. It was commissioned by the French oil company Total Energies.
Twenty-six-year-old Neubauer pointed out on Twitter that her text was also the title of the book. This is How to Blow Up and Pipeline by Swedish author and climate researcher Andreas Malm. He is considered a pioneer of the radical climate movement.
When asked by Bild, Neubauer commented on the pipeline project, but not on her own statement: “The EACOP project alone would produce almost half a gigaton of CO2. That is why we have been working for months with activists from the region, ie Uganda and Tanzania, as well as with many people from France against the oil pipeline that the French company Total wants to build. “
A “climate killer pipeline” should not be built. “Almost all German insurance companies and banks – except Deutsche Bank – have already refused to support the project – because it is so harmful. (…) The construction of the EACOP pipeline must be canceled. “
Storch files a criminal complaint against Neubauer
After the Neubauer’s humorous plans, Deputy AfD spokeswoman Beatrix von Storch also spoke. She filed a criminal complaint against a climate activist, a threat of explosive attacks. According to Storch, the climate sect is becoming more radical, as climate extremist Andreas Malm recently demonstrated with his call for violence in Der Spiegel.
“Climate terrorism threatens, green RAF. The prosecutor’s office and the BfV can no longer watch and act: No tolerance for violence and threats of violence from professional youth who have been neglected by their wealth and who are preparing to enter eco-terrorism, “Storch explained.
