Prior to the meeting of Heads of State Lukashenko and Putin in St. Petersburg, Ukraine announced numerous rocket attacks, some from Belarus. Moscow is trying to invade its close allies in the war, Kyiv criticizes.

According to information from Kiev, Russia fired rockets at several Ukrainian regions during the Ukrainian war, including from neighboring Belarus. Russia wants to involve its ally Belarus in the war, said: “Today’s attack is directly related to the Kremlin’s efforts to involve Belarus in the war in Ukraine as a comrade-in-arms,” said the Directorate General of Ukrainian Intelligence. The service, which reports to the Ministry of Defense, is taken over by the Telegram courier service on Saturday.

The news agency Unian said that the impacts were registered in the areas of Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, Zhytomyr and Chernihiv. The Dnipropetrovsk region was also shelled by artillery. In addition to the village of Desna, targets “in the Kiev and Sumy areas” were also hit, the agency said. Nationwide air alarm at night

The former Soviet republic of Belarus, ruled by Alexander Lukashenko, is in fact described as neutral in a war that has lasted for more than four months. Especially in the first weeks of the war, however, Belarus served as a retreat and logistical base for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Lukashenko is an ally of Russian President Putin. The attacks took place before the meeting this Saturday in St. Petersburg, Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is scheduled to visit Belarus on Thursday and Friday.
