Sievjerodoneck threatened to be surrounded

The two-town Lysychansk across the river – Sieverodonetsk – was reportedly not completely conquered by Russian forces. The fighting will continue there. The dpa reports that, according to the British secret service, there is still a risk of encircling a strategically important city.

Russian troops continued their efforts to close the circle around the Sierodonetsk. “In the last 24 hours, Russian forces have probably continued to try to gain the upper hand on the Popasna axis, from where they want to encircle the Sievarodonetsk pocket from the south,” the daily update on the war in Ukraine states on the website of the British Ministry of Defense.

Sierodoneck is also home to the Azot chemical war plant. It is said to have been almost completely destroyed by Russian artillery and rocket fire. “There are no preserved office buildings on the territory of the chemical giant,” Military Governor Hajdaj told Telegram.

Nevertheless, according to Ukrainian information, soldiers and hundreds of civilians are still in place. Evacuation is not possible due to the continuing Russian shelling.

Attack on a Russian ship in the Black Sea

According to the authorities, Ukrainian forces in the Black Sea hit the tugboat of the Russian Navy with rockets. Several news agencies inform about it. According to the DPA, there has been no confirmation from the Russian fleet.

The ship was said to have been with soldiers, weapons and ammunition on its way to Snake Island south of the port city of Odessa, which has been occupied by Russia since the end of February. Information on whether and how many people were injured is not yet available. According to Ukrainian data, the ship was strongly confirmed.

Dead and injured in Mykolaiv

Another Russian missile attack allegedly took place in southern Ukraine, on the city of Mykolaiv. According to regional governor Vitali Kim, two people were killed and 20 wounded, including a child. Four residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged.

According to the Russian President’s Office, the main goal of what Russia calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine remains “protection of the population” in Donbas. The region must be saved from “barbaric attacks” by the Ukrainian armed forces, said Presidential Office spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
